Garifer - Hollywood’s least likely love story

Meet Gary. (The guy in the mask) A down-on-his-luck paparazzo. He's clean, nice and polite. Which is why he's horrible at his job. He's just not ready for the brave new world of exploitation, TMZ and building up and tearing down a celebrity before lunchtime. And he's definitely not ready for Jennifer Aniston.

Jennifer Aniston is the uber-celeb, the cover girl, "America's Sweetheart." Or so we think. The real Jen is a foul-mouthed, outrageous slob, hell-bent on maintaining her status as the lovable girl next door.

Their worlds couldn't be further apart. And then one fateful day, in a bizarre twist of fate, Gary meets Jennifer. Well, not really "meets" as much as "kidnaps." He only wants to get a few Aniston exclusives to pay the rent, but it soon escalates into a hilarious and life-changing chain of events. Gary spends his days cooking, cleaning and caring for Jen, wishing he could undo what he's done - while Jen does everything in her power to make life a living hell for her captor. This odd couple couldn't be more opposite, but maybe they're exactly what each other needs in this crazy, mixed-up world known as Hollywood.

Who are the filmmakers?

Michael Aimette & John G. Hofmann co-wrote and directed their first feature film, Turning Green, in 2004. The script for this coming-of-age Irish comedy was originally chosen among the finalists on HBO’s Project Greenlight and quickly landed the duo representation at The William Morris Agency.

Independently financed, Turning Green stars Academy Award Winner Timothy Hutton (Ordinary People, Beautiful Girls, The Good Shepherd), Alessandro Nivola (Face/Off, Laurel Canyon, Junebug) and Colm Meaney (The Commitments, Intermission, Star Trek: The Next Generation). Variety called the film “empowered and alive, a tart comedy, ” eFilm Critic praised it as “a smartly-written, beautifully shot comedy,” and the Irish Voice deemed it “Superb. A low budget gem.”

Michael Aimette is a Clio award-winning Creative Director at advertising agency BBDO-New York, while John G. Hofmann is an Emmy Award-winning director, producer and editor at MTV. Garifer is Michael and John’s third feature screenplay.
